The speed of Internet access may vary depending on the capacity of the modem, computer memory and type of network used. In general,
DSL links have faster Internet access than dial-up links. Internet access may also be restricted by Internet traffic or the volume of computer users accessing certain web sites. The networks may become overwhelmed by Internet users; thus, a “bottle neck” effect may be created thereby making Internet servers inaccessible to Internet users. This may result to server shutdown. Internet access may also be affected by viruses which
infect servers and local users.
